To be fair to my friend, though, a LOT of advice is more obvious and easier to apply from the outside.
It's astonishing how many people have found the same thing transformative that I found transformative: that when I have the urge to yell at myself, "Ughh, what's wrong with you? why can't you do this?" to treat that as a literal question: what is wrong. What do you need in order to be successful with this task. Like...doesn't it seem obvious? that you would need to assess what's getting in the way of doing something and what tools can help you do it? And yet almost everyone I've said this to has gone O.O at it.
So...yeah, there are some lessons that seem obvious from the outside, that you have to learn over and over again. I think that's okay, though. I think that's part of being human. I think you should feel fine about that learning while you do it.
